Who knew the best doughnuts/donuts in the world would be found in a small Baltic State in Europe, but honestly, that's exactly what I found when I recently went to Kaunas in Lithuania. There's a cafe called Spurgine on a street called Freedom Alley (that's Laisves al in Lithuanian) and it's been there since Soviet Times in 1978 and it sells the Lithuanian specialty of fried doughnuts called 'spurgos'. They come filled with jam, cheese or meat (the jam is apple jam and it's sensational ) and they only cost a Euro (that's one dollar) each. Watch the video to see me put them to the taste test!
