How To Make a Silicone Block Mold of an Irregularly Shaped Model: Mold Max™ 30

You can save material and money by making your silicone mold conform to the shape of your model. In this video, Milo shows how to use aluminum flashing to create a custom mold box for an irregularly shaped model.

The model is created by carving modeling board using a CNC router. Epsilon™ epoxy coating is used to give some areas of the model a shiny finish. A mold box which curves to follow the contours of the model is made using aluminum flashing and wooden buttresses.

Mold Max™ 30 tin cured silicone is mixed and poured over the model. After the rubber cures and the model is demolded, Featherlite™ resin is poured into the mold. The Featherlite™ resin is lightweight and easy to paint.
