Palma De Mallorca Port Walk - To The Cathedral of Mallorca - P&O Arvia - Sep 2023

This was the second port stop on the P&O Arvia Mediterranean Cruise (K319) in September 2023, stopping at the port of Palma De Mallorca (Majorca for you Brits!).

We have been to Palma before, but only via car when staying on the lovely Island of Majorca. This was our first visit whilst on a cruise ship.

The cruise terminal itself was a reasonable distance away from the main town area, so many people chose to take a shuttle bus. As ever with us, we far prefer to walk whenever possible, not only because we like the exercise, but we also like to look around the places we visit. We find that you get a much better feel for the location if you walk around, rather than just sticking to the main tourist spots.

The walk took us along the edge of the harbour and marinas. It was quite noisy as there were some fairly major roadworks going on at the time along the first part of the walk. I'm sure this work will result in a far improved area and walk, but you just have to live with it for a while. Because on=f the ongoing work, or maybe due to the lateness in the season, some of the bars and businesses along the seafront were closed, but again, I'm sure these will reopen and be even better than before :)

It was a nice easy walk though, and it was a pleasant hour or so getting to the main area. Total distance from the cruise port, was around 3.5 miles.

The area around the Catedral de Mallorca was really nice and there was a market when we were there which had a large variety of specialist little business selling all sorts of items.
From there, we walked a little further around the Parc de la Mar and then into the shopping area.
There was a wide variety of shops there and we spent a little time walking around. We aren't really bothered about shopping though, so after a while we walked back down to the seafront and started looking for a place to have a nice cool cocktail.

As we've found in a few locations though, many cafes are really geared up for serving food rather than just drinks, and in fact here we tried to get a drink at two places but they wouldn't serve us drinks only without buying food :(

So we ended up walking back toward the cruise terminal where we remembered seeing a couple of bars along the seafront.
Really pleased that we did actually, as we stopped at a simple but friendly little bar, "The 50s Diner" and had some of the best cocktails we've found for ages :)
In fact, we couldn't help but have another, and then another... They were soooo yummy :)
From there, it was another 2.5 mile walk back to the ship, which was much easier after a couple of cocktails :)
