Armenian and Persian are both Indo-European languages. Armenian is the official language of the Republic of Armenia and is widely spoken in the Armenian diaspora. There are two standard forms of written Modern Armenian, Western Armenian and Eastern Armenian. Persian (Farsi) is primarily spoken in Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan, and some other regions which historically were considered part of Greater Iran.
