" Welcome to Haflong, the headquarters of Dima Hasao district, an Autonomous Hill district earlier called as North Cachar Hills. The New Haflong railway station is situated at an elevation of 1463 ft and is definitely one of the most scenic railway station of N.E India. Haflong town has many beautiful leisure spots & one of them is the Haflong Lake situated in the heart of this beautiful small town. Haflong Lake offers a variety of leisure activities, like boating. Boating on the Haflong Lake gives a panoramic view of the hill station and the surrounding hills. Jatinga is a village on a ridge , famous for its bird watching activities. Next we move onto see the Ethnic Village, constructed by the local authorities and had a broader perspective of the cultural richness of this beautiful area. This village is being maintained by the Department of Forestry and is constructed under Rashtriya Sama Vikash Yojana. But the ultimate experience we had was during the Sielkal Peak trekking located in Borail Hills range. Although the 6000ft trekking was physically demanding yet soul refreshing once we climbed up to the top and the cold breeze took away our tiredness. Our guide took well care of us and arranged our meal at a locals house. The blue waters of Panimur is an experience worth having. The Kopili River is obstructed by stones creating this waterfall is indeed an ethereal beauty. We sat beside the waterfall and time passed slowly. The Umrangso Golf course is another beautiful tourist destination and a perfect spot for sunrise and sunset views. The khandong Kopili power station was the maiden venture of Neepco producing around 50mw of electricity. This hill station has many natural spots such as waterfalls, forests enriching its natural treasures. The culturally diversed land has many ancient temples such as Devithan mandir and also churches spreading the agehold message of communal harmony of our great motherland . The night view of the Presbyterian church is a treat to the eyes. This newly popularized hill station of axom is a future asset in terms of tourism.
