The unveiling of the statue of the late Maharajah Sir Man Singh K.C.S.I. by Sir James Digges La Touche K.C.S.I., Lieutenant-Governor, United Provinces of Agra and Awadh , took place on the 13th August, 1902 at the Kaisarbagh baradari.The Kaisarbagh Baradari was constructed during the reign of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah as place of mourning and was known as Qasr-ul-Aza. After the annexation of Awadh in 1856 the British used this place to hold courts for the cases against the Kings,Nobles and Nawab's families. Raja Man Singh was an influential Zameendar in the Faizabad district. During the mutiny he was arrested by the order of the Chief Commissioner and was placed in confinement in his fort at Shahganj. The Rajah warned them that his troops would rise in revolt and offered if released to give the Europeans shelter in his fort. The situation was serious so Colonel Goldney released him. Rajah sheltered them and provided boats for the Britishers to cross the Ghaghra river and were escorted by Rajah' s men. Farmer and Brindley of London, carved the statue of Sir Man Singh.
Two roads were named on James La Touche, one in Kanpur and other in Lucknow.
Another Statue is of Raja Digbijaya Singh K.C.S.I. of Balrampur who was the founder of British Indian Association along with Maharajah Man Singh, of Awadh. Balrampur was the key province and largest Talukdari Estate of Awadh. He got the title of Maharajah Bahadur and was made a Knight Commander of Star of India.
