Edna O'Brien’s funeral mass took place at St Joseph’s Church in her home village of Tuamgraney, County Clare on 10 August at 11am. According to her wishes, she was to be buried on Holy Island in Lough Derg, where her grandparents are buried.

In her funeral wishes, Edna asked that her dear friend, Niall Buggy, sing Red Roses for Me by Sean O’Casey. This is his recording
