Photo Charter 2024

One of the largest gathering of preserved 7-inch W G Bagnall of Stafford engines, the 2024 Thelkeld Photo Charter, supporting the 2024 Steam Gala, was held on Friday 26th July 2024.

The event saw the following locomotives in action:

Bagnall Works No.1706 of 1906 'Sybil'. The freshly restored locomotive from the West Lancashire Light Railway worked at the Dinorwic Quarry at Llanberis in North Wales

A reunion of two locomotives that worked at Cliffe Hill Granite in Leicestershire (and last reunited in 1997):
Bagnall Works No. 1491 of 1897 Isabel from the Amerton Railway in Staffordshire
Bagnall Works No. 2067 of 1918 Peter from the Amberley Museum, West Sussex. This will be the first time Peter has been away from its homebase in 27 years!

Completing the line up was Quarry Hunslet Works No.921 of 1906 ‘Sybil Mary’ from Statfold Barn Railway. Further footage of Sybil Mary during the event:    • Sybil Mary at Threlkeld Quarry & Mini...

The event started off at the engine shed before moving down on the extension, which will lead down to the new museum (for which grant funding has just been announced, further funding is needed and details can be found: https://www.threlkeldquarryandminingm... ), before moving up to the Quarry top. An evening session saw Isabel again on the extension, before the event concluded with a loco line up on the headshunt at the main station.
