Step back in time around 70 years with these fascinating photos of Liverpool city centre in the 1950s. We're now well into the year 2025 and for many, it's hard to believe that the 50s were so long ago.

For context - it was the decade that saw Elizabeth II become Queen, record numbers of babies born in what would be known as the 50s baby boom and Disney's Cinderella first premiered. From how we dressed to the places we shopped and how we socialised, so much has changed in our city through the decades.

But these photos offer a glimpse into life in the city centre during that decade - and they are definitely a trip back in time. Courtesy of our archive, Mirrorpix, these photos were taken between 1950 and 1959 and show life on a number of main city centre streets - from buildings and businesses to the people and more.
