2 Stroke Sea-Doo Buyers Guide: Episode 1: Hull Styles

Описание к видео 2 Stroke Sea-Doo Buyers Guide: Episode 1: Hull Styles

When looking to buy a used older 90s 2 stroke Sea-Doo ski, you need to know what style of hull for what style of riding you will be doing.

Single Rider ski for 1 person for jumping, racing, spinning, very tippy, rides like a dirtbike on water. SP, SPI, SPX, XP, HX models.
The X4 hulls are the most popular. The X4 hulls started in 1995 and have the removable trim tabs in the back bottom corners. The older models, 93 and 94 look the same but don't have the same bottoms with those removable tabs. The 95XP 717 (white top, yellow bottom) and 95XP 800 (yellow top, yellow/pink bottom) are among the most popular, followed by the 97-99 SPX 800.
In 97 the XP changed hulls to the hourglass hull, the 97 had the 787cc engine and then in 98 it got the larger 951 engine. Try to stay away from the 97 XP with that hull as it is a one year wonder for the computer mpem and is hard to find.

Double Rider ski for 2 people, still decent for jumping and fun to ride with 1 person but still stable enough and large enough for 2 people. GS, GSI, GSX models. The GS hulls remained the same for many years, you can find them with or without mirrors, and with all 3 different engines, 717, 787, and 951.

Family Ski, 3 Person Ski, large and stable ski for cruising, giving kids a ride, pulling a tube, and general easy going family fun. GTS, GTI, GTX models. These changed hull styles a few times. The older hulls were only available in the 587, 657, and 717 engines. In the newer hull style you could find them with 717, 787, and 951 engines. However the 717 engine in the much larger hull was kinda gutless and underpowered in that larger hull.

This Buyer's guide will help you choose the best hull style to fit your riding needs.

Episode 2 will cover engine options.
Episode 3 will cover what to look for and what to avoid when buying.
