Mother's with BPD struggle greatly with navigating their emotions, impulses and relationships, and as a result, their children are often wounded developmentally, mentally and emotionally.

This video identifies 13 ways children CAN be wounded (not implying all children with BPD mothers WILL be wounded in these areas), and hopefully provides a roadmap of areas to potentially explore, in terms of their adult lives and development.

BPD can vary widely in how it impacts an individual and therefore, in how it might impact a child of an adult with BPD.

However, if a diagnosis is accurate, the cluster of emotional and behavioral symptoms will likely impair a parent's ability to provide a child with the mirroring, stability and emotional safety most needed in development. Of course a parent in treatment or in recovery, will have much greater access to tools and support and this, in and of itself, can be monumental.

Individuals who are in treatment for BPD deserve immense credit for working to heal their lives, and this video is not about making them feel worse.

This video is SPECIFICALLY FOR TEEN/ADULT CHILDREN OF MOMS with BPD diagnoses, so they might use it in seeking to help themselves, to potentially heal and understand their stories, and to find freedom and release from blaming themselves for a mothering experience that was deeply wounding.
