It was the end of 2014 and I was living in Israel while touring around the world and there was a terrible streak of terrorist acts being committed by the Palestinians  which included running over the elderly and raping women in the forest and whatever bad thing you could think about they were doing, and of course that does not mean all of the Palestinians, but no doubt there is a percentage that commit these acts and there is a larger percentage that support these horrific act as opposed to trying to make peace for the last hundred years, but that’s a whole other topic-but I was on tour in America in the Midwest when I saw a picture of this Israeli young woman soldier who had gotten stabbed in the neck by a terrorist and the way to describe it. She wasn’t going to survive and it was a rough week for me for what was happening back home in Israel while I’m forced to entertain people and so it was before a show in Hobart, Indiana, that it was announced on the Israeli news that this youthful beautiful, pure young lady soldier named Dikla had miraculously started to breathe on her own, and it looked like she was going to survive and so as I got out of the car for the sound check these emotions of this song came out of the guitar and when I got back to Israel the next week, a guitar builder was bringing me a new guitar that I should make a promotion for, and they brought all their cameras and all their recording equipment and even though they kept pressing the red button and it showed it was recording for some reason when they went to listen back, it wouldn’t record so I told them I’ll just put my iPhone four on the amp and send them a take of me playing this song and of course they laughed and said what are we were gonna do with that ? Well, I had a limited amount of time and I had to get to the show so without saying anything I recorded it as I was playing and they were trying to work things out by changing the cords and I came home after my show and it was the night before New Year’s, and I decided to put it up and call it New Year’s Blues, and then parentheses tears for Dikla When I woke up in the morning there was already 100s of thousands of views and hundreds of comments, which quickly became millions of views and thousands of comments - I think there is something in the young soldier that is not only the story of Israel? overcoming challenges even when it looks like it’s the end but I think there’s something about each of us understanding not to give up even when it looks like there’s no hope and that is why this melody Has moved so many people in my opinion …
