Feyenoord showed Ajax every corner of De Kuip. In an unprecedentedly one-sided de Klassieker, the 29th round of the Eredivisie ended 6-0.
It was Feyenoord's biggest win ever over the big rival. The 9-4 of 29 November 1964 can now be erased from the books. Earlier this season the Rotterdammers won the Klassieker in the Johan Cruijff Arena 0-4.
Moreover, it matched the biggest defeat in Ajax's club history. In 1949 (6-0 against ADO) and 1950 (0-6 against Limburgia) they lost by the same figures. That was before the establishment of the premier league.
At halftime this afternoon it was already 3-0 thanks to goals by Igor Paixão, standout Yankuba Minteh and Dávid Hancko. In the second half, Minteh, Quinten Timber and Paixão further increased the score.
The easy win puts Feyenoord firmly in second place and allows them to look ahead to the cup final in two weeks against NEC. The Nijmegen-based side took over fifth place from Ajax, which still has to work hard in the remaining five league matches to qualify directly for European soccer. For that, the Amsterdammers have to finish fourth or fifth and hope that Feyenoord wins the cup.
