-Indore, the biggest city in Madhya Pradesh, is known for being the cleanest city in India.
Indore stays India’s cleanest city for the sixth year in a row by processing 1,900 tons of waste daily, making money and fueling buses.
In Indore, garbage is categorized into six groups at collection points, going beyond the typical ‘dry’ and ‘wet’ categories.
Indore, which is known as the state’s commercial capital, is free of garbage bins, despite producing 1,200 tons of dry waste and 700 tons of wet waste every day.
The IMC’s waste disposal system is notable for its bio-CNG plant, which uses the city’s wet waste. According to city officials, it’s the largest of its kind in Asia.
The IMC earns Rs 8 crore annually from the plants that convert waste into useful products such as bio-CNG.
-In 2019, IMC aimed to make Indore a ‘no landfill city.’ They accomplished this by removing a remarkable 1.5 million tonnes of old waste in just six months and reclaimed 100 acres of land, now valued at Rs. 400 crores.
