“The Philippines is a responsible state. We will continue to exercise our freedoms and rights in support of our national interest, and in accordance with international law,” President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. declared during his talk to troops with the Armed Forces of the Philippines' (AFP) Western Command (WESCOM) at Camp General Artemio Ricarte in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan on 23 June 2024.

In his remarks, the Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the country does not instigate wars, but rather strives to provide a peaceful and prosperous life for every Filipino as its ultimate ambition.

“This is why, in defending the nation, we will stay true to our nature as Filipinos: to settle issues peacefully… In the performance of our duties, we will not resort to the use of force and intimidation, and deliberately inflict injury or harm to anyone,” he stated.

Recognizing the Philippine Navy (PN) for successfully conducting its reprovisioning operations, he conferred the Order of Lapu-Lapu to 80 soldiers, consisting of 79 Kamagi medals, who actively participated and made significant contributions to an activity aligned with a campaign or advocacy of the President.  One (1) Kampilan Award was bestowed upon Seaman First Class Underwater Operator Jefrey Facundo, who was seriously injured during the recent rotation and resupply (RORE) mission.

“I reassure you that you have the entire nation behind you, praying for your safety and your success. The Filipino people is grateful for your dedicated service and to the families who support you,” President Marcos Jr. conveyed. He reaffirmed the Administration's commitment to supporting the nation’s Armed Forces, ensuring their well-being and safety, as well as of their families.
