🐊🚙 The Everglades is a vast wetland in Southern Florida just west of Miami, FL. Starting in Orlando, the Kissimmee River flows to lake Okeechobee and transitions in the Everglades at the southern end of the lake. Technically one of the world's widest rivers at 60 miles wide and a 100 miles long. Although it appears to be a swamp the water does flow albeit very slowly technically making the waterbody a river. Filled with exotic reptiles, birds, and mammals the Everglades are home to a few famous creatures; Alligators, American Crocodiles, flamingo, and the extremely endangered Florida Panther.🌴🌴

This drive, run through the Big Cypress Wildlife Refuge about 50 miles north of the Everglades National Park welcome center on Loop Rd of Route 41 - one of the best birding roads in all of U.S. home to dozens of species of birds both native to South Florida but also migrating birds from the North. A small dirt road that cuts through the heart of the Everglades away from the crowds and tourist groups in the National Park, making for a much more in depth view of the Everglades with less crowds.
