6.12. IMAGE & HYPERLINK Functions (Looker Studio Masterclass) (Google Data Studio Tutorial)

Описание к видео 6.12. IMAGE & HYPERLINK Functions (Looker Studio Masterclass) (Google Data Studio Tutorial)

In this tutorial, I'm diving into the amazing versatility of the Image and Hyperlink functions in Looker Studio. These functions may seem miscellaneous, but I assure you, their power is extraordinary and once you know how to use them, you'll discover a whole new world of reporting.

The hyperlink function, for example, allows you to construct links, dynamically if needed, that your viewers can easily interact with. In this video, I'm showing you how to use this function to create dynamic links and how it can be leveraged in specific scenarios. Let's take a client example, who had different email addresses and based on the values on the report, we used this function to allow the viewer to click and send an email to a specific person. Or, how about dynamically linking to a filtered version of another page in Looker Studio? Imagine the possibilities!

I'll walk you through the Image function, which enables you to embed images directly into your reports. We'll cover everything from how to define this function at the data source level, to practical applications such as display campaigns.

6.12. IMAGE() & HYPERLINK() Functions

In this section, we'll explore two miscellaneous functions in Data Studio: IMAGE() and HYPERLINK(). These functions are particularly useful when dealing with image URLs and clickable links in your data.

IMAGE():
The IMAGE() function is used to display images in Data Studio when you have an image URL in your data source. It is important to note that this function can only be defined at the data source level. To use the IMAGE() function, simply wrap the image URL in the function, and Data Studio will display the image in a table. This is particularly useful when reporting on display campaigns and analyzing the performance of different ad visuals.

HYPERLINK():
The HYPERLINK() function is used to create clickable links in Data Studio. This function can be used to construct links from separate fields in your data source or directly apply a link to a table. The HYPERLINK() function takes two arguments: the URL and the link label.

Some use cases for the HYPERLINK() function include:

Creating dynamic email links based on report values.

Dynamically linking to a filtered version of a Data Studio page using the "Enable viewer filters in report link" setting in the report settings.

An interesting trick with tables in Data Studio is adjusting the row heights by adding a transparent image in one of the columns. By adjusting the height of the transparent image, you can effectively adjust the height of the rows in the table.
