Suzuki DR650 & Acerbis 5.3 Gallon Gas Tank - Mileage Test Ride/Review

I wanted to step down from the Acerbis 6.6 gallon tank, the next best thing was the Acerbis 5.3 tank. So that's what I did hoping I could get at least 250 miles out of a tank of gas in that size, the 5.3 gallon.
This ride was my test ride after installation and the route I chose from the gas station I filled up to and back would be roughly 240 miles plus another few miles to get back to my house.
Beautiful ride in the higher desert with comfortable temps, I spent probably 99% of the ride at speeds between 65 and 75 mph strictly on the asphalt and on the ride back I did have a decent head wind. Sure enough, about a mile from the beginning point I had to switch to reserve and continue on to the house with no further gas issues making the trip just over 240 miles. So realistically, I can get 250 miles out of a tank of gas (the 5.3 gallon tank) with a loaded bike in a moderate headwind traveling at a median speed of 60 mph. Perfect, that's just what I wanted!
