More than 100 birds, rodents, dogs and cats rescued in Essex need new homes as Baltimore County Animal Services was already operating over capacity. A search warrant led officials to an extreme hoarding case in Essex last week. Now, the shelter caring for them needs help to ease overcrowding. The animals saved are not yet up for adoption and cannot be recorded on video due to an animal welfare investigation. They include cats, parakeets, fish, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, dogs and puppies. All were found in "deplorable" conditions and are now receiving medical care, officials said.
