IoT devices—such as smart door locks, cameras, and industrial sensors—are a "disaster zone" for quantum security but are often overlooked.
Most of these devices have weak computing power and low power consumption, making them unable to directly run complex PQC algorithms. Many still use traditional weak encryption such as RSA-1024. Once quantum computers become widespread, the difficulty of cracking will be greatly reduced.
The solution is "lightweight transformation": develop minimalist PQC algorithms specifically for IoT , or centrally handle encryption through "edge computing gateways" so that IoT devices don’t need to bear complex calculations individually.
