The U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. is where the U.S. Congress (House of Representatives) and U.S. Senate meet and pass laws. It features the recognizable dome, which was based on St. Peter's Basilica dome in Rome. The building was completed in 1800 and was partially burnt down by the British in the War of 1812.
