Joy Dhak | An Ecstasy with Dhak | Process of Making Dhak

The word “Dhak” comes from the Austric word “Dhaka” included in the Sanskrit language. The word later became a part of the Bengali script. The dhak is a big membranophone instrument that originally belongs to South Asia. The dhak has become an integral aspect of the widely loved Bengali festival of Durga Puja, other Bengali rituals and festivities.
Here in this video the famous dhak maker of Bengal Shri Satish Chandra Das demonstrates the each and every step of the process of making a good quality dhak. He claims that a good sounding dhak can only be made through manual process and human imaginations, not through technological developments.
