Two years ago, I lost my dad suddenly to a stroke, and my world was turned upside down. My faith was shaken, and I fell into a very dark place. A year later, my mom passed away as well, and I felt completely lost. Growing up Catholic, I was raised with faith, but in the midst of so much grief, I didn’t know where to turn. I even considered ending my life because the pain felt unbearable.

During this incredibly difficult time, my partner, R.J., who is a born Muslim, was with me every step of the way. He never pressured me to convert but simply lived his faith with patience, respect, and love. Last Ramadan, I saw him fasting and wanted to understand why. That curiosity and witnessing his devotion inspired me to start practicing Ramadan myself, even before formally converting. Experiencing gratitude for Allah’s blessings and the simple gifts in life opened my heart in ways I never imagined.

Eventually, I embraced Islam and formally declared my faith through the Shahada. It was a moment of immense peace and healing, marking a new chapter in my life. Alhamdulillah, through loss and pain, I found faith, purpose, and a sense of belonging. I’m so grateful for my partner’s support and for the welcoming community that guided me through this beautiful journey.
