India 360: Narendra Modi invites EC wrath by invoking Lord Ram

Lord Ram's name had thus far in the 2014 Lok Sabha election been conspicuous by its absence. Given Modi's reputation for being a Hindu hardliner, there were many who felt that the issue of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya would be one of his motifs in the campaign. But Modi raised few issues apart from development and corruption and his Gujarat model in his campaign speeches. But with the elections reaching their business end, Narendra Modi, addressing a rally in the vicinity of Ayodhya, was seen addressing a crowd with the poster of Lord Ram in the background. He even invoked the name of the Lord, something he has refrained from doing so on the campaign trail only to invite the Election Commission's wrath which took cognisance of the violation of the Model Code of conduct and demanded the video footage from the rally.
