Fact 1: The highest tube station is Amersham on the Metropolitan line, sitting 147 metres above sea level—12 metres higher than the London Eye! That's a 179-metre difference compared to Westminster, the station furthest below sea level.

Fact 2: Alperton Station on the Piccadilly line still has wooden escalators. Though they're closed to the public now, wooden escalators were common until a fire at King's Cross in 1987 changed everything. By 2014, the entire network had switched to metal escalators.

Fact 3: The only tube station you can't walk to is Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3.
