The D-pad on most controllers will use what's called a hat switch.

Setting up a hat switch control is similar to the way you would setup a button control.

For example, lets setup our D-pad to correspond to the arrow keys on the keyboard.

All we need to do is press up on the D-pad, and then press the up arrow key on the keyboard.

Now lets press down on the D-pad, and then press the down arrow key on the keyboard.

Left on the D-pad, and then the left arrow key.

Right on the D-pad, and then the right arrow key.

Now when we activate our layout the D-pad will correspond to the arrow keys on our keyboard.
