A 17-year-old died in a Houston Hyatt hotel and was found by her date Saturday morning.

Jacqueline Gomez and her prom date checked into the Hyatt North Houston hotel the night before after attending MacArthur High School's prom. Her date told police that they had been drinking before going to bed. When he woke up, he called 911 to report that Gomez wasn't breathing.

Gomez sent a picture of herself with her date in the hotel room to her friends, who were still at the dance. Her friends had asked her to stay at the dance, but Gomez had plans to spend the night with her date at the hotel.

"Just please be safe, Jackie," said her friend Justice Gonzalez before giving her a hug goodbye.

Police found alcohol and prescription painkillers in the hotel room, but they do not suspect foul play. Police say there were no signs of trauma. Her date has been cooperative with the investigation.
