This is a 3D render of simulations such as    • Energy of a linear wave crossing a prism w...   and    • A linear wave crossing an octagon with ref...   showing linear waves crossing a prism. An oscillating linear wave is created at the left boundary, and the triangular region has a refractive index of 2, which occurs in certain crystals such as boron nitride.
The video has two parts, showing the same simulation with two different color gradients
Wave height: 0:00
Average energy: 1:40
In the first part, the color and the z coordinate depend on the wave height. In the second part, they depend on the wave energy, averaged from the beginning of the simulation. The boundary conditions are absorbing on the right boundary, and periodic between the near and far boundaries.
