Dragon Age Inquisition - Class Build - Sword and Shield DPS Reaver Guide!

This guide focuses on how to build your class using a combination of standard skills from the Vanguard, Weapon and Shield skill trees, and new active and passives from the Reaver specialization.

With about 15-20 points to place, you can put together a very powerful Reaver that has everything it needs to dominate on the battlefield.

Weapon and Shield

Payback Strike / Sweet Revenge (Skill upgrade) / Turn the Bolt / Warrior's Resolve / Shield Bash / Turn the Blade

In Vanguard, take Warcry or Challenge, and then pick up Charging Bull with the upgrade, Gore and Trample

In the Reaver specialization, unlock everything including skill upgrades. I take the left side path first to get to the bottom.

In a typical fight, I start off by running behind my tank, and then Charging Bull into enemies, followed by a Warcry to build Guard. Enemies are likely to come my way, so I knock them down with Shield Bash. You can use Payback strike as well, but I like to save this incase of myself getting knocked down or some other debilitating affect on me.

Depending on how many enemies are around, I may activate Ring of Pain. If only a couple, or I'm focusing a lot of one enemy, I will skip Ring of Pain and just start using Dragon Rage and Devour. You can start by using Devour first, to increase the critical hit chance of your first Dragon Rage. With the upgrades to our skills, the cooldown of Devour drops fast with each Dragon Rage attack, so we can do it again very soon.

It's important to stay flexible, especially as a Warrior I think. I always consider myself a tank or off tank. Using Charging Bull, Shield Bash, and Payback Strike often can help keep enemies out of the fight and even save your ranged fighters when they're in trouble.

Rampage is a fantastic Focus ability that can really turn the tide of a battle. Even if you're the last one standing, Rampage can carry an imminent loss, into a victory for you and your allies.

For AI settings, Ring of Pain is Disabled. Set Dragon Rage, Devour, Shield Bash, and Payback Strike to Preferred. Also set their behavior to Follow your tank.
