Can you imagine building a working satellite prototype in your very first semester of college? That’s exactly what four first-year students—Kavta Katal, Satvik Prasad, Suryansh Chattree, and Neelanshu Karn—from Newton School of Technology, Rishihood University set out to do. With zero prior experience in space tech, electronics, 3D modeling, or data dashboards, they relied on pure curiosity, late-night learning, and sheer determination to bring their idea to life. What began as a spontaneous “let’s build a satellite” conversation turned into an intense, hands-on project where they researched sensors, figured out how to transfer data, built a functional CubeSat model, and even created a dashboard to visualize live data.

Their journey was anything but smooth—tight deadlines, broken transmitters, unfamiliar software, and last-minute exhibition chaos at Bharat Mandapam pushed them to their limits. But their passion didn’t let them stop. From learning FreeCAD and AutoCAD to coding the backend overnight, every step was filled with trial, error, and a lot of learning. Guided by mentorship and driven by a strong problem statement, they built a 1U CubeSat prototype equipped with sensors like gyroscope, temperature, humidity, magnetometer, and more. They didn’t just talk about innovation—they lived it. And what’s even more exciting is that this is just the beginning. The team now dreams of scaling their prototype into a 3U satellite and preparing it for a real-world space environment.
