Norfolk & Western J Class

On the weekend of April 9th and 10th, 2016, Norfolk & Western J Class 4-8-4 #611 pulled two excursions from the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer. On Saturday, she hauled "The Virginian" over the Piedmont Division to Lynchburg. On Sunday, she hauled "The Blue Ridge Special" over the S-Line to Asheville via the Old Fort Loops. Both trips were assisted by Norfolk Southern ES44AC #8099 in Southern Railway heritage livery and the NCTM's Southern Railway FP7 #6133.
Many thanks to the Virginia Museum of Transportation, the Fire Up 611 Committee, the North Carolina Transportation Museum and the Norfolk Southern Railroad for making these excursions possible.

With the downgrading of the S-Line to 25 MPH, it's likely that the "Blue Ridge Special" on April 10th, 2016 will be the last passenger excursion over the Loops for quite some time.
