Since its first days in the UNSW Roundhouse in 2007, the growth and development that SMASH! has undergone is extraordinary. While keeping true to its artistic roots, SMASH! has also embraced all forms of niche hobbies which has attracted a diverse community from trading card games enthusiast, dedicated cosplayers to karaoke stars.

Every year, SMASH! manages to increase the number of attendees exponentially and every year, it’s thanks to the staff and crew members. Since 2007, each and every staff member in SMASH! is a volunteer. For SMASH! as a non-profit organisation to not only have lasted a decade but to have grown so large, requires the efforts of many talented people.

To celebrate the 10 years of SMASH! in 2016, we sit down with these old and new members of the SMASH! Team to give us a little insight on how SMASH! has changed over the years. The key founders, Katie Huang and Paul Aeria, as well as past president Thomas Munro tell us about the beginning of SMASH! whilst current President Andrew Qiu and other SMASH! alumni take us through the current world of SMASH!.

Dedicated to all of the wonderful volunteers, staff and crew, past and present, throughout the years, who have helped SMASH! to grow into what it has become today, and to what it might become tomorrow.
