We sit down before the show with Eric, doing on of his favorite past times, and talking to him about where he came from, where he is and where he and We Came As Romans is going.

Here is a transcript of the interview:

So the first thing that interested me in playing drums is a video I found of Joey Jordison back when he had the spinning riser with the pentagrams in the back and I saw the riser spinning and he was strapped in a seat and playing the drum solo. That was the first thing I saw that convinced me to play drums.

This is back in 2004 I would say and so its been about 8 years now. And ever since then I have had a love for it. I just feel like its for me and always practice. Back when I started, I wasn't even practicing, it was fun, it was a good time and as the years went by I realized that I was pretty decent at it and just became a passion of mine and here I am now.

For a drummer who is just starting out, I would advise practicing. Just keep teaching yourself new things as much as possible. Find other drummers you might want to play in their style, try to watch what they do. Feel it out and just try to learn from them, take from them. Don't be afraid to take inspiration from other drummers. That is just what it is to be a musician is to pick up from other people and learn things.

The line of cymbals that work best for me is the A Custom. Very bright, very versatile. I feel like you can use them for a bunch of different genres of music. For me it works out well because they cut through everything else that is going on stage and very loud and bright. I don't play everything A Custom but mainly all of my crashes and my splashes and my hihats. I really like using them because they just cut through and they sound great. They are pretty durable with how flexible they are.

So with me and the band, this next year we are doing more over seas traveling we are touring in the Philippines, South America, which entails, Chile, Argentina, a couple of shows in Brazil. We are doing a pretty big festival tour for the summer and we have a lot of plans to see more of the world.
