Story :-
Op has been married to Marc for 9 years and they both have successful careers. They both work for the same law firm following graduation, they met at university and were lucky to get jobs with the same prestigious firm. Marc works in criminal law and Op works in family law. They decided that they did not want to have children early on in their marriage as they are career focused and enjoy traveling the world when they have a chance to get away. They also have a lovely home. They have a pet dog, Max, who is their ‘child’. Marc has two sisters, Louise who is married to James and has three children (f,2 m,4 m,6) and Helen who is a single parent to her two daughters (f,10 and f,12). Op and her husband spend time with their nieces and nephews and as a family, they get together at weekends and have holidays together. Marc’s grandparents, Betty and Harold are very traditional about family and insist that they all get together at times such as Christmas and have one holiday a year together. Marc and Op were made partners in the firm recently, so they have a bigger income. Marc’s grandparents think they are selfish for not having children to carry the family name, as Louise’s children have her husband’s surname and Helen only has girls. Recently they have started telling Op and Marc that they would be ‘supporting’ Marc’s siblings more and it was not fair that they had all their expendable income when Marc’s sisters didn’t. They say on the next holiday Op and Marc should fund everything for the siblings. Op does not think they should.
