The Franklin River Blockade 1983, Tasmania (Part 2 of 2)

Описание к видео The Franklin River Blockade 1983, Tasmania (Part 2 of 2)

On December 14th 1982, the Tasmanian Wilderness Society began an onsight blockade of construction work on a dam to flood the Franklin River in south west Tasmania. This action was the culmination of 7 years protest against the proposed dam.

Since then, our story of success continues. In 2012, Wilderness Society negotiated protection for over 500,000 hectares of native Tasmanian forest. In 2018, we blew the lid off Queensland's hidden deforestation crisis and improved the badly broken laws. We got the third multinational oil company—Norway's Equinor—to drop their plans to drill for oil in the Great Australian Bight in 2020.
