Описание к видео Guatemala's Overlanding Secrets REVEALED

We are continuing our travels with our Toyota Tacoma and Four Wheel Camper.
Searching for the roads less traveled and finding the ultimate adventures.
Make sure to check out part one of this Guatemala Overlanding Series, to find out how we damaged our truck and try to not get stuck in lake Atitlan's tiniest roads.

Antigua
We cross into the new year in Antigua. It's hard to believe that we are currently 14 months on the road. In total we spend 6 weeks in Guatemala and we have seen a lot. Although the drives are challenging and in bad shape, we try to get to the most epic spots in the country.

The Laguna Seca de Ordoñez
This spot is the highest lake in all of central Amerika and we wanted to check it out. The hike was difficult and though. Only Travis made it all the way, as Linsay her shoes started falling apart.

Volcan Chicabal
This volcanic lake is sacred to the Mayans and incredible to visit. We had to drive all the way up the volcano with our Toyota to reach it. If you car is too large or not able to drive in these steep and narrow roads, you can always park at the visitors center and they bring you up from there. From this spot you also have view on the volcan Santa Maria and Volcan Santiaguito.

Volcan Pacaya
Although they prefer you get a guide to bring you up this volcano, we did not feel it was necessary. The trail is easy and straight forward and we like to start hiking as early as possible. You still pay 100Q per person to visit, but camping on the parking is for free.

Volcan Acatenango and Fuego
This is the highlight of Guatemala, the volcano everyone is talking about and that everyone wants to visit. But be careful! You really need a good condition to do so and wear good footwear. You can also do this hike with guides, food and not needing to carry your pack. But we love to do things on our own, so we grabbed all our gear, stocked up on food and lots of water. And together with our friends Jason and Hanna, we hiked up the mountain ourselves. With steep elevation and after 4 hours we reach Basecamp where we are going to spend the night, to hike to the summit the next morning. At night, you have a constant view on Volcan Fuego spitting up lava.

To the coast!
We have to take a ferry to be able to drive the coastline. We are intrigued and needed to see the coast of Guatemala. The sand is black, it feels like the beaches are made out of volcanic sand.

We are over twelve months into this trip and have driven in Canada, USA, Mexico, Belize, and Guatemala. Don't forget to check out the rest of the channel and see how we got here!
