Vahla Rumzum Karta

Count Your Blessings. Often we are so focused on what we want that we forget what we already have. Desires turn our lives into a long list of complaints. So let us come together and allow our hearts to welcome what we have - the divine presence of God that is everywhere and an Ekantik Sadhu Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj, and welcome Him with this exhilarating bhajan singing and dancing.

As we immerse ourselves in this bhajan, let us also learn more about its background incident:

Bhagwan Swaminarayan's exemplary personality was experienced all across Gujarat 200 years ago. The Mandirs he made, Shashtras (scriptures) he inspired, strict and simple celibate Sadhus he made and despite of accepting Sanatan Vedic principles - many people did not accept Swaminarayan Sampraday as Vedic. Many criticized him that Bhagwan's avatar isn't possible in Kaliyuga.

Once Srimant Sayajirao Gaekwad organized a spiritual debate in Vitthal Mandir, and he had invited many learned scholars including scholars from Swaminarayan Sampraday.
Many of Bhagwan Swaminarayan's sadhus were scholars themselves, however He asked Sadguru Muktanand Swami to go to this spiritual debate. Muktanand Swami said, "There are other sadhus who are much more intelligent and knowledgeable than me, so please don't send me for this debate." Bhagwan Swaminarayan said, "Swami you go. Through you Sampraday will gain victory."

At the debate everyone had been waiting for Muktanand swami and when he arrived at Vitthal Mandir everyone was touched by his humility and simplicity. He entered in with Kartals (music instrument) in his hands, he walked in dancing and singing this bhajan "Vahla Rumzum karta". Such was his devotion that no matter where he was, he was completely engrossed in Bhagwan Swaminarayan's divinity - without a single thought about what the result will be of the debate.


To note here is that: even today Srimant (king) Sayajirao Gaekwad's descendant is there at Laxmi Nivas Palace and in this video you will see photo of Pujya Mahant Swami Maharaj with him at the palace.
