(17 Jan 2019) Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer met with President Trump's new pick for Attorney General, William Barr, after Wednesday's confirmation hearing. Schumer said he asked Barr if he would allow the complete release of special counsel Robert Mueller's report, other than parts redacted by intelligence. Schumer said Barr would not give him that assurance. He called it very disappointing.
Schumer also agreed with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi that the State of the Union address on January 29th should be delayed if the federal government is still partially shut down. And he said President Trump's statement that the Islamic State group was defeated in Syria "would not hold up." He pointed out the bombing that killed two U.S. service members and two American civilians on Wednesday.
