Audio Geekery! | Mixing Protools stems, Hybrid Analog mixing Midas Verona 2020

Описание к видео Audio Geekery! | Mixing Protools stems, Hybrid Analog mixing Midas Verona 2020

In this video I do some analog - digital Hybrid mixing of 16 ProTools stems on a Midas Verona analog mixing console using Digidesign 192 I/O direct into the analog console, the only outboard gear is a strapped pair of DBX 160A inserted across the master buss of the analog console, the rest of the processing is done in Pro Tools. Printed to Zoom H6 at 48kHz - Enjoy!

Hybrid sound mixing is a process of combining digital and analog techniques to create a unique sound that blends the best of both worlds.

Hybrid sound mixing is a technique used in the sound production industry to create high-quality soundscapes that combine the best elements of digital and analog sound production. This process allows sound engineers to take advantage of the flexibility and precision of digital tools while also incorporating the warmth and character of analog equipment.

Digital sound production tools, such as digital audio workstations (DAWs) and plug-ins, offer unparalleled flexibility and precision in sound editing, processing, and mixing. On the other hand, analog equipment, such as vintage microphones, preamps, and compressors, provide a warm and characterful sound that cannot be replicated by digital tools.

Hybrid sound mixing combines the best of both worlds by using digital tools for precise editing and processing while also incorporating analog equipment to add warmth, depth, and character to the sound. This process can involve using analog equipment during the recording process, or by sending digital signals through analog gear during the mixing and mastering process.

Some sound engineers prefer hybrid sound mixing over entirely digital or analog production methods because it allows for greater creativity and flexibility. The ability to combine different tools and techniques allows sound engineers to experiment and create unique and innovative sounds that cannot be achieved with either digital or analog production methods alone.

Overall, hybrid sound mixing is a powerful tool in the sound production industry that allows sound engineers to create high-quality, unique, and innovative soundscapes that combine the best elements of digital and analog production methods.

About Midas Consoles:

Midas has been designing and manufacturing audio consoles since the early 1970s. Later on it became part of the Telex group. When, in January 2006, Telex Communications was acquired by the Bosch group, Midas consoles became part of the business unit "Bosch Communications Systems". Midas parted company with Bosch in February 2010 and are now part of Music Tribe.

Midas consoles are currently being used around the world by audio engineers largely in the live sound realm. Applications for these boards include Front of House (FOH) and monitor console positions. Common and historical consoles include the Heritage 1000, 2000, 3000 and 4000, the venerable XL4, XL3 and XL200 & 250 large frame professional touring consoles and a variety of less expensive versions aimed at the club and regional sound market.
