Welcome back to my channel. This story is penned by Vincent Frank in Sportsnaut News. LaMelo LaFrance Ball born August 22, 2001) is an American professional basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was selected by the Hornets with the third overall pick of the 2020 NBA draft. Ball was voted the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021 and named an NBA All-Star the following season in 2022. Ball was born in Anaheim, California to LaVar and Tina Ball, who were both former college basketball players.

Ball was trained in basketball by his father, LaVar, as soon as he could walk. At age four, he started playing the sport with his older brothers, Lonzo and LiAngelo, facing much older opponents. He also played flag football with his brothers at age five but continued to focus on basketball. Ahead of the 2022–23 NBA season, Ball changed his jersey number from the number 2 to the number 1. On February 13, 2023, Ball recorded 30 points, six rebounds, and a career-high-tying 15 assists in a 144–138 win over the Atlanta Hawks. He also became the first player in Hornets history to record at least 30 points, five rebounds, and 15 assists in a game. On February 16, Ball had 28 points, 10 assists, and a season-high 12 rebounds in a 120–110 win over the San Antonio Spurs. He became the second-youngest player in NBA history to reach 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 1,000 assists in his career, behind only LeBron James. On February 27, during a 117–106 win over the Detroit Pistons, Ball suffered a non-contact right ankle injury. After the game, the Hornets announced that he had fractured his ankle and was ruled out indefinitely. On March 1, Ball successfully underwent surgery to address his injury and was ruled out for the rest of the season. On the court, Charlotte Hornets star guard LaMelo Ball has dealt with a plethora of injuries. The former No. 3 overall pick from UCLA played in all of 22 games last season due to an ankle injury. It’s a crying shame considering how well he has performed when on the court. This past season saw Ball average 23.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 8.0 assists. Unfortunately, he just can’t stay healthy. Off the court, Ball finds himself in the news for all the wrong reasons. According to Joe Bruno of WSOCTV in Charlotte, Ball is being sued by a family after he allegedly ran over an 11-year-old autograph seeker. This is not a drill. It actually happened. Tamaria McRae says that at a fan event last October her son was seeking an autograph from Ball. The guard apparently did not sign anything. Instead, he drove off in his car and ran over the young man’s foot. The youngster broke his foot in the incident outside of the Spectrum Center in Charlotte.“This is his hero, his idol, and he got run over by him,” their lawyer, Cameron DeBrun, said. A photo was shown of the boy in crutches after the alleged incident. “When you see your children hurt, it hurts you,” the boy’s mother said. “It’s been rough. It’s been really rough. I mean like I’m a strong person. This broke me. This right here, it really did.”At this point, we have not heard a response from Ball or the Hornets’ organization. Still, it’s a pretty damning allegation. Ball has a reputation for driving recklessly in the Charlotte area. This would be the most noteworthy incident. As it relates to the young boy, his family is not only suing Ball. They have also filed suit against the Hornets organization stemming from the incident in question.
