Springbok No. 8 Legends | Spies VS Vermeulen | Who would you pick?

Springbok legends Duane Vermeulen and Pierre Spies were very similar number 8’s, both big, strong, imposing ball carriers.

Duane Vermeulen spent a large amount of his playing career in South Africa representing local franchises, Cheetahs, Stormers and the Blue Bulls but also ventured overseas and enjoyed stints with Toulon in France, Kubota Spears in Japan and Ulster in Ireland.

Spies remained loyal to the Blue Bulls whilst he played in South Africa, racking up well over 100 caps for his club side before venturing to France in 2016 and signing for Montpellier, where Spies would see out the remainder of his professional career.

Both incredible athletes from different rugby eras but who would you pick in your starting 15.
