A Travelogue on Dagara Sea Beach - the hidden beauty of Odisha coast.
Our tour to Dagara was during Durga Puja vacation.
The virgin, lonely, offbeat sea beach in Odisha is located around 230 km away from Kolkata. One can easily visit Dagara on a weekend tour from Kolkata. In local pronunciation, it is called ‘Dogra Beach’. The few kilometers long sprawling sand beach is lined with thick cover of casuarina forest on one side. The sea here is gorgeous. The sea beach is located beside a small village, where only 4-5 ordinary hotels are there to stay. Still unknown to many, the beach is a hidden beauty of Odisha.
Crabs are the habitats on the beach, as usual. But the major attraction here is the sea birds. We could see few dozens of Plovers and Gulls on the beach. Unlike other popular sea beaches on Bengal-Odisha coast, there is hardly any tourist here at Dagara. You may find that the number of sea birds on the beach is much more than humans. One can drive few kilometers on the lonely beach of hard sand.

How to go:
The distance of Dagara is around 230 km from Kolkata, 35 km from Jaleswar town and 58 km from Digha.
From Howrah reach Jaleswar by train (eg Dhauli Exp). From Jaleswar take Auto to reach Dagara Beach. The fare is around 1000. It takes around 1.5 hrs.
By Car Dagara is around 5 hrs 30 minutes drive from Kolkata via Jaleswar. One can also reach Dagara via Digha.
On the way to Dagara, while crossing river Subarnarekha, one will be amazed to see the beauty of of the river bed from top of the bridge.
