This video is part of our Great Adventure series, sharing the story of a 2+ year motorhome journey across North America that changed our lives forever and inspired my book The Yonder Years.

We kick off what will be a long journey for followers of Life on the Strait. In May of 2014 — after years of preparation — my wife Amy and I set off in our motorhome, towing our Honda behind us, with destinations and a duration unknown. Our return to Washington State in April of 2016 led us to search for a new home, eventually bringing us to our current home on the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

I began writing a book about our travels in January of 2022 and finished nine months later. It’s titled The Yonder Years: Two People, Two Motorhomes, and Two Years of Travel, Discovery, and Adventure. This three-volume, coffee-table-style series includes hundreds of photographs from throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico and is available as free PDFs through the links on my channel.

In this playlist, I’ll be sharing book readings along with additional photos and videos from our adventure that didn’t make it into the books. I’ll also talk about the planning that made this journey possible, including lessons learned from both our successes and our mistakes.
