The Chaos Egg, like many other Keepsakes, has a very specific effect: it makes Chaos gates free to enter and improves the relative rarity of Chaos boons. Hades operates under a specific subsection of rules governing which boons will appear; after you've taken four different gods' boons, those deities are officially your god "pool" for the run (meaning, you won't see other gods during the run unless a special exception is made, somehow). Having the ability to lock one of the gods into your pool can be exceptionally powerful.
