3 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 tsp Baking Soda
1/4 tsp Salt
1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
2 tsp Ground Ginger
1/4 tsp Ground Cloves
1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
1 Large Egg
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
½ cup Molasses
1 fresh orange zested
¾ cup Unsalted Butter at room temperature
½ cup Brown Sugar packed
📝 INSTRUCTIONS
1️⃣ Start by measuring and preparing all your ingredients.
2️⃣ Whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and nutmeg in a large bowl.
3️⃣ In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, molasses, and vanilla extract until smooth.
4️⃣ Zest one fresh orange and whisk the zest into the wet mixture.
5️⃣ Cream softened butter and packed brown sugar in a mixer for two to three minutes until light and fluffy.
6️⃣ Scrape down the sides of the bowl, then mix in the wet ingredients until fully combined.
7️⃣ Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until a smooth, slightly firm dough forms.
8️⃣ Scoop dough onto plastic wrap, loosely wrap, and press into flat disks (two to three for a single batch, four to five for a double batch).
9️⃣ Chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour or freeze for up to three months, labeling with the dough name and date.
