On the freeway, going 65, it's early
I don't want to go to work
I've been wearing this suit all week
doesn't help that my boss is a jerk
Every pay check that I get goes to bills
and I'm left with dirt
Got a girl that's chill but it sucks
that I never have time for her
I've been on my grind
slaving every day of the week
wish I had time to lay on the beach
build sand castles, splash battles
but I'm at work tied to leash
I would make complex forts in the living room
watch TV chillin' in my fruit of looms
can we time travel back when we were young
when smiles were real and life was fun

I wish I can go back to the days when we had nothing
nowadays 'something' to us is not enough

I wish I can go back to the days when we had nothing
'cause back then, 'nothing' to us was just enough

i miss the wonder years

clockin' in 40 hours of my life every week
and repeats on Mondays
all my friends work too so we tell each other
"maybe I'll see you some day"
and if you don't work everybody tells you
"you should be in school"
I never thought growing up
life would come with a bunch of rules
If I had my way
I would have tan bark fights at the park
I would run around, play tag in the dark
write a 4 page letter for the girl I like
asking 'will you be mine?" signed with a heart
time passed by in a shot of a water gun fight
that we had when we were young
we were wild and we were crazy
.. but we had fun
