Highway to Hell, for a spell in Heaven - Richtersveld, South Africa

The highway to hell is the road into and out the Richtersveld in South Africa. De Hoop Campsite is a stunning location almost a wild camping site at the side of the Orange River. Overlanding and camping along the way in our Bush Company landrover roof top tent.
Huge boulders, corrugated washboard roads, then calm and serene as we drop down to camp for a night, a welcome sight. The rugged road leads us through various wondrous landscapes, moon like, and at one point cairn stone piled not high but in their thousands as far as the eye can see, gave it a surreal alien yet moving moment.
Andi the Landy battled through, without grumbling, even when the rear shocker absorber decided it wasn't up to the job - Andi didn't complain, just got on with the job as land rovers do - of course we treated her to new bits and pieces and a much needed clean when we could!
