#9 from '10 Pièces pour orgue ou pour piano à pédale, Vol.1' (ca.1875)

Phillip Sear plays a piano transcription (transcriber unknown) of an organ piece by the French organist and composer Théodore-César Salomé (1834–1896).

After studying at the Conservatoire de Paris under renowned teachers and winning several prizes, Salomé became the choir organist at the Église de la Sainte-Trinité in Paris in 1863, where he would serve until his death. The church featured a magnificent Cavaillé-Coll organ, and Salomé developed a close collaborative relationship with Alexandre Guilmant, the church's titular organist.

A prolific composer for organ and piano, Salomé's works gained considerable recognition, particularly his "Offertoire pour grand orgue" in D-flat major, which became especially popular in America and was even performed at the 1904 World's Fair. Beyond his church duties, he maintained an active teaching career as a professor at various institutions including the Paris Conservatoire and Collège Rollin. (Information from Wikipedia)
