This is my first project that I finished at Francis Tuttle Technology Center this year. The project was to make a 15 second commercial, though we were able to make a 30 second commercial instead.
I had to make a storyboard with a team of other classmates, get said storyboard and a shot list, as well as a proposal form and releases approved before starting. For the most part, I stuck to my storyboard, though I replaced the gun with a bat (for obvious reasons, this taking place at a school), changed the secretary to a male and other various things.
I then shot the video with a Sony XDCAM. This... was a blast. I planned to get all of it done in a week and a half, editing and everything. Shooting took almost two weeks to get everything due to inconveniences. For starts, I planned to shoot everything in one day, but ran out of time. The following days, it was just one thing after another. An actor was wearing a different shirt, or got a haircut, or wasn't present. Then the floors got changed, so we had to reshoot the ENTIRE thing. Lastly, I thought I had a full week when I didn't, as the Monday of said week was a field trip and Thursday and Friday was fall break. I guess things like that happen in the business too though, so it was a good experience. I learned to consider my schedule more carefully for sure.
I also did some audio recording for the announcer voice, the tired sigh and some gulping, which was fun. We have a quiet room that's pretty nice.
Lastly I edited the clips together using the program Final Cut Pro X. The only video effect I used other than the fades at the start and end was a speed effect at 0:15. However I added a lot of sound effects from apple's library to make it sound EPIC.
I'm going to say this now; FCP X was a pain to use considering I first learned 7. So much is different, and some features I loved, like round tripping, have been removed. For instance, in 7, I was able to make cross dissolves on an audio clip without also putting one on the video clip it's attached to. In X, you have to make your own cross dissolve as seen in this screenshot below, or download an add-on, which I can't install on my school computer (without an admin password).
I got through it, however, and ended up with a project I'm quite happy with, especially considering it's my first time making a video.

I'd like to give a special thanks to Mat Hester for helping out with editing, to Roberta Pattison for letting us use her office, and to Matthew Renfro for giving me the idea to use the Heartbeat sound effect to help distract from the jump cuts.
