2001 Boxster Four-Wheel Alignment
Anytime you touch suspension parts in a car, you should perform a wheel alignment. On this car, we totally replaced the front and rear struts and springs. Plus, some other suspension parts were worn out.

At the same time, we also replaced the brake pads and rotors all around.

This car was way too low. We did not go back to full ride height, we are running a European lowered height, but now everything matches. This car also got 4 new tires. Rubber ages, so tires over 6 or so years old, even if they have tread, are done.
We have shown a four-wheel alignment on an early 911.

The process is similar for the Porsche Boxster. A lot of time is spent measuring and setting up. It takes two of us to do this job. Setting the string lines is the longest part.
For the four-wheel alignment tables, we ended up welding them ourselves. Nothing on the market had the wight capabilities in a smaller size.
On each leg of the tables, we added a threaded “foot”. The foot is made of a bolt, and we leveled the tables to the floor around our lift. For later installation, we marked the position of the tables in relation to the lift. Just to speed up the setup on the next job.
A few principles apply to every wheel alignment.
1. All suspension parts are in good order
2. Tire pressure is set on all tires
3. All fluids topped up. Full tank of gas, washer fluid, brake fluid, and oil.
4. Be able to lock the wheels using brake bar
5. Lock the steering using a wheel brace
6. Way to hold strings parallel to the vehicle

The mag ones weigh in so much less than the steel ones! We have a pair of each, and we are thinking about getting another set of Mag ones!

This one is just for measuring, not for filling. Overfill then knockdown to correct pressure.

We did have to turn our own adaptor to fit the wheel hubs.
